In 1997, Baronness Philippine de Rothschild and Eduardo Guilisati Tagle, president of the Concha y Toro vineyard, signed a partnership agreement whose goal was to create an exceptional French-Chilean wine: Almaviva.
Made from a blend of classic Bordeaux varieties, of which Cabernet Sauvignon being predominant, Almaviva is the outcome of a happy encounter between two cultures. Chile gives this wine its soil and its climate, while France offers its savoir-faire and traditions. The result of this combination: extraordinary elegance and complexity.
Located in the upper part of the Maipo Valley, in the central part of Chile, Puente Alto was discovered twenty years ago to have the ideal conditions for cultivating Cabernet Sauvignon. 60 hectares are reserved here exclusively for this wine.
Almaviva was the first vineyard in Chile to integrate the French concept of a “château,” taking into account the exceptional terroir and an unrivaled technical team in the cellars.
