The story of Siepi begins in 1435 when the Mazzei family became proud owners of the castle of Fonterutoli. In fact, in the twelfth century, one of the most ancient family of Tuscany decided to become winemakers in the region of Chianti, despite they also had a close link with politics.
Since almost six generations, the family has never stopped to produce wine, keeping alive the historic and traditional family values, but also by adapting them to the constant innovation and to the demands of today’s marketplace.
In 1992, Siepi became the first Tuscan single-vineyard cru to combine Merlot and Sangiovese in equal quantities. This combination produces a wine which is perfectly balanced between elegance, power and complexity.
